The Paws 4 U team was formally known as the Paws for People.  The acronym PAWS stands for PEOPLE AND WONDERFUL SOULS.  The group aims to bring dogs and people together in a non-threatening manner allowing the dogs to interact positively through the use of their controlled friendly approach and in this way giving the children skills for life.  It is a well-known documented fact that simple interaction with animals reduces stress, boosts the immune system and creates a feeling of contentment.  This team gives up their time voluntarily to work with our children.  A lot of planning and hard work goes into each therapy session.  The children are always delighted to interact with the handlers and dogs. 

The therapy provided, is a great value to our learners as the team works on perceptual language and planning skills in a fun way.  They are also taught to problem solve, work together and to share.  They also learn the importance of being a responsible pet owner.  The most important skill that is taught, is kindness.  Kindness towards others as well as kindness towards animals.  The team together with their dogs reinforce many skills taught in the classroom.
