Muriel Brand School is a school for learners with special education needs, experiencing barriers to learning and development. The school offers the CAPS curriculum (the same as all the academic mainstream schools). Learners are diagnosed with disabilities like Cerebral Palsy, Physical Disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities and Sensory Disabilities.
Learners are admitted from the age of 3-years, up to Gr 12. All learners are able and benefit from the educational programme offered. Slower learners are not accommodated, as their needs will be better served in schools that make specific provision for their specific needs. Although learners with sensory barriers are admitted, we do not offer Braille or Sign Language.
The school is a parallel medium institution of education. The Language of Learning and Teaching (LOLT) of the school is English and Afrikaans.
The admission process is managed by the Department of Education, and not the school.
The school can be contacted for more information and support in this matter.
